Waynetown - Oliver Schecnk, 89, one of Wayne Township's most widely known farmers, died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday March 1, 1958 at Culver Hospital. He had been a patient there during 3 weeks' serious illness following a year of failing health. Mr. Schenck was born March 7, 1868 at the old homestead, east of Waynetown on Rt. 2. His parents were Chrineyance and Margaret (Hance) Schenck. On Dec 24, 1897, he married Miss Alica Harpel at her home in Wayne Township. She died April 2, 1917. He was the oldest living member of Christian UnioN Church in which the family was always active. He was the lst charter member of Waynetown Knights of Pythias Lodge, having been a member 67 years. He was a farmer all his active years. For many years he served the Wayne Twp Farm Bureau as director after being a charter member. He also served the Montgomery County Farm Bureau as VP. He had a wide acquaintance from taking several Farm Bureau tours. Mr. Schenck is survived by two sons, John and Kenneth, Waynetown and a daughter, Miss VIola, who resided with her father; also five grandchildren, Lester Schenck Baltimore, Md; Miss Joyce Schenck, who attends Purude; Mrs. Maxine rush and Mrs. Kathleen Grimble of Wayentown Rt2; and Mrs. Ruth ann Ruby, zionsville. and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Russell who died Jan 8 this year; two brothers and two sisters.

Oliver O. Schenck, 89, died a Culver Hospital on March 1. He had been in failing health a number of years. Mr. Schenck was a charter member of the Montgomery County Farm Bureau, with his membership in Wayne Township. He served as township director as well as vice-president of the county Farm Bureau for many years. He became well known over the state of Indiana through the number of Farm Bureau tours over the United States and Canada he had made with his wife and daughter. Uncle Ollie, as he was familiarly known, was the oldest member of Christian Union Church, near Waynetown, and was the last charter member of the Waynetown Knights of Pythias lodge. He is survived by a daughter, Viola, at home; two sons, John and Kenneth, both of near Waynetown; and five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr. Schenck was preceded death by his wife, a son, Russell, who died Jan. 8 of this year, two brothers, and two sisters. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. John Servies at the Christian Union Church. Burial was in the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.

WAYNETOWN — Funeral services for Oliver Schenck were held at Christian Union Church Tuesday afternoon with Rev. John R. Servies officiating. "In The Garden," "Does Jesus Care? and "Face To Face" were sung, by Mrs. Ruth Myers and Mrs. Margaret Schenck, accompanied by Mrs. Una Larew. Pallbearers were grandsons: Lester Schenck, David Rush, Francis Grimble and James Ruby; also Ray Thompson, Forrest Schenck, John Mullen and Carroll Barnett. Flower bearers were great-grandchildren: Gary Rush, Jackie Grimble, Wayne Rush and Warren Rush; also grandchildren, Joyce Schenck, Maxine Rush, Kathleen Grimble, Ruth Ann Ruby and Judith Schenck, and friends, Mrs. Hazel Thompson, Miss Pearl Lidster, Mrs. Wilma Schenck, Mrs. Norma Calder, Mrs. Opal Schenck and Mrs. Elsie Moore. Attending in a body from the Knights of Pythias Lodge were Burrell Rosenbaum, Walter Blackford, Robert Larew, Merrell Cord, Willis Schenck, Hale Legg and Fred Fruits. Burial was in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
